Amity Arts

Performing Arts classes in Bishop's Stortford for adults with SEND

About Us

We are a social enterprise that empowers adults with learning disabilities to create shows from scratch!

Our students are our writers, directors, actors, and set designers too. Our artists all have their own incredible talents, and we are so glad to provide a place where their involvement is as individual as they are, and absolutely essential to what we do.

Lessons leading up to show seasons are a super fun mix of show-making, theatre games, and theatrical training. We provide high quality, accessible training in singing, acting, dancing; even puppetry and poetry. Ultimately, Amity aims to create a warm, inclusive space where every student’s unique artistry is supported and celebrated.

Amity Arts operates on the values of inclusion, empowerment, opportunity, and basically just having a jolly good time. The team behind Amity have a wealth of experience in the SEND education sector, and absolutely love getting to bring inclusive theatre to the stage.

Amity Arts is owned and directed by Esme Nichol, whose great joys in life are being a bit silly, eating anything with cheese in it, and putting on some rather funky shows. If you haven’t met Esme yet, here she is in one of her many pairs of trusty dungarees.
